The project is being developed through AGERROBOT, with the support of Red.es and the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF)
Agerpix Technologies is developing an automation and predictive analytics system to optimize fruit and vegetable production through autonomous robotics. The project is being developed through AGERROBOT: AI-Based Automation and Predictive Analytics System for the Optimization of Agricultural Production. The initiative has been underway since October 2025 and is scheduled to run until December 2027, with the support of Red.es and the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
Through this technological development initiative, the Soria-based company aims to bring cutting-edge robotics to the fruit and vegetable sector. The ultimate goal is to provide farmers with a low-cost, highly useful tool that gives them access to Artificial Intelligence and open data without requiring major infrastructure or advanced technological expertise.
Three technological pillars
AGERROBOT is built around three complementary technological pillars: automated data collection through robotics, data integration and prediction using Artificial Intelligence (AI), and an AI-based agricultural management support tool.
First, the project plans to deploy autonomous or semi-autonomous ground robots and drones equipped with cameras and sensors capable of navigating fruit and vegetable fields and collecting real-time data, incorporating Agerpix’s OnFruit solution. Second, the large volume of information generated by the robots will be processed by an AI algorithm. This will combine field data with other relevant sources, such as historical production data and soil analysis, and integrate the results with Agerpix’s AICrop tool. Finally, the AI-generated results will be presented through an intuitive digital platform designed to support agricultural management: Agerpix’s AICrop Mini. It will be a comprehensive and versatile tool that can be accessed from any mobile device.
The project’s pilot programs and field trials will be carried out on real farms in Castile and León, a region that accounts for a significant share of Spain’s national fruit and vegetable production, in collaboration with local companies.
Through AGERROBOT, Agerpix aims to address some of the sector’s main challenges: the shortage of skilled labor, climate variability, the need for more sustainable resource management, and the digital divide in rural areas. The project also includes an extensive dissemination plan, featuring scientific publications, an open-access data repository, a free version of AICrop Mini, and technical workshops open to farmers and cooperatives.
AGERROBOT is a project supported by Red.es, a public entity under Spain’s Ministry for Digital Transformation and Public Administration, and co-funded by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), as part of the RedIA 2025 call for funding for research and development projects in Artificial Intelligence and other dual-use technologies and their integration into value chains.
