Agróptimum: Artificial intelligence to anticipate the future of pistachio farming

Together with Agróptimum, we have applied artificial intelligence and multispectral vision to count floral buds in pistachio crops and monitor growth in nurseries, enabling production forecasting, optimized crop management, and improved plant traceability.

The collaboration between Agróptimum and Agerpix Technologies represents a decisive step toward more precise, sustainable, and data-driven agriculture. Together we have developed an intelligent monitoring system that combines multispectral cameras and AI models for two key applications in pistachio cultivation: counting floral buds in the field and tracking plant growth in nurseries.

Automatic counting of floral buds

Bud counting in pistachio trees is a critical task for estimating future yields. Traditionally, this process was carried out manually, requiring significant time and resources and involving a high margin of error.

Thanks to the technology developed with Agerpix, Agróptimum has automated this process through computer vision, analyzing field-captured images with unprecedented precision. The system not only quantifies the number of buds but also evaluates their condition, allowing production potential to be forecasted months in advance for each plant.

Monitoring growth in nurseries

The project also extends to the nursery stage, where Agerpix and Agróptimum have implemented a plant growth monitoring system using multispectral cameras and AI. This technology allows real-time control of plant vigor, uniformity, and condition, improving traceability and optimizing production times.
